Diablo 4 Item Upgrades

Item upgrades allow players to increase the item level of equippable items like weapons or armor, as well as trinkets to a certain level. You can upgrade items at any NPC that accepts the appropriate currency.

Slots are used to upgrade components into equipment to increase attribute bonuses and additional effects. Most of these upgrades are slot-restricted, but a few are universal.

Rerolling

The player is able to reroll up to 10 times per battle. After rerolling the item, its weight will not change. However its base power and upgrades will be reset. The item is still able to be enchanted after rerolling.

Genshin Impact allows players to purchase and utilize other mechanics, in addition to rerolling to increase their gacha scores. To upgrade the weapon you have to go to the NPC [Armorto upgrade a weapon, visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. You will need one of three Power Dices to upgrade your weapon or gear piece. The first one can be found from all monsters aged 21plus, while the other two are available from Giants and Bosses. Each upgrade will cost a different amount of Erons and Minerals. The more powerful an item, the higher the price.

Weapons have a higher trade value when fully upgraded because they do more damage. There are some weapons that have high trade value even though they're not upgraded as they have useful stats (e.g. Whistan's Shield for FB sorc's). There are also some unique and set items that don't need upgrading due to their inherently low requirements or advantages from upgrading (e.g. Goldwrap Naj's puzzler staff.

There are some sets that come with set bonuses that provide additional effects when Link wears the entire set. These bonuses are helpful in certain situations, for instance when exploring the Gerudo Desert or in a dark dungeon. The Desert Voe Set, for instance, comes with the Stealth Up feature that makes it easier to sneak by enemies.

There are also universal upgrades that can be fitted into any type of equipment. These upgrades provide fewer rewards than the ones that are restricted to certain types however, they are more easy to obtain. Certain upgrades can be transformed into gems by a jeweler and can be used to upgrade any trinket slot. Other upgrades are inorganic augmentations, which can only be used in weapons, and offer a small benefit that doesn't increase the damage.

Requirements

Upgrades are an important part of improving the effectiveness and strength of your characters during battle. Item upgrades can boost an item's base stats or add the suffix or prefix of a new item. The amount of stats an item level upgrade can improve depends on its rarity and mark level. Upgrades are available in dungeons, raids, or bought from vendors. You can also obtain them as a random item upgrader mod or by collecting other players' loot.

There's no tenable game design solution to the issue of the "not worth it" feeling that some players have about upgrading certain items. Ideally, the game would give more information about upgrades in its compare interface, for instance "X stats gained, the loss of X stats." However, that is impractical to implement because of how complex is the process of comparison. There's simply not enough space to implement it in a proper manner in the UI.

A script that checks the requirements for upgrading an item prior to allowing the item to be upgraded is a different option. This method is suitable for systems that have a limited amount of upgradeable items and a minimal upgrade dependency. A sword can be upgraded from Sword+1 to Sword+2. A script could look for the Item Definition attribute of every upgrade, and then change the Item Status to "upgraded" to indicate that the upgrade was valid.

This solution is more flexible, but it does require some extra code. It is also less appropriate for extremely complex systems.

Another option is to allow players to upgrade their armor and weapons. These upgrades are known as reforges and increase the item's stats while reducing the cost. Reforges have different power levels however the most powerful reforges are the Orb of Transmutation and Orb of Embrace.

Costs

Upgrading gear can increase its physical strength, spell power and health (for rings and armor) or add a bonus effect when it's in your inventory. You can either craft upgrade item components or buy them from vendors. They can also be looted, dropped from other players, on the Trading Post, or as a reward. Upgrade components can be inserted into armor, weapons, and trinkets. They can also be attached to tools for gathering. Most upgrade components can only be replaced with an Upgrade Extractor. The only exception is the glyphs. These can be salvaged by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or the Ascended Salvage tool.

Upgrades to an item can cost gold and/or Dilithium depending on the item type. Additionally, many upgrades require Flightstones and/or crests. The amount of crests and Flightstones needed to upgrade an item depends on the level of the gear and the maximum upgrade level is set by Blizzard. Upgrades to the highest level are costly, especially when upgrading PvE equipment.

Upgrades can also alter the weapon's ammunition or damage die size. They also can alter the weapon's special properties like its heavy or operative property, or its hand requirement. Some upgrades can even change a weapon's appearance.

While increasing stats is the primary goal of upgrading items but you should take into consideration the cost of upgrading an item prior to making the decision. Spend your gold on rare items, and not on items that are of the common or magic tier. Upgrading these items will waste precious resources, and you'll quickly discover that rare gear is superior to them.

Ask your guild members for their opinions if you are unsure whether upgrading is worth it. There may be cheaper upgrades at a lower cost. Upgrade your equipment as soon as you can because upgrades become more expensive as time passes. If you are unable to afford the upgrade costs it might be better to hold off. This will allow you to reach your potential.
