World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

The feature of upgrading items allows players to increase the level for equippable weapons or armor. This improves the stats and sometimes adds buffs or rerolls an affix.

Cost

The player must spend gold to upgrade an item. The cost of upgrading an item is dependent on its current level and upgrade item type chosen. Upgrades to weapons are usually cheaper than upgrades to armor since weapons have less requirements. The amount of Gold required to upgrade an item increases as the item is upgraded to the next level.

A new item will also come with increased stats, which can improve its performance in a variety of ways. This could include increasing its attack power or critical strike chance.
