Chiikawa Volume 5 Review②
Hello ????
As soon as I woke up this morning, I was afraid to check the Twitter update...
https://twitter.com/ngnchiikawa/status/1617907297656909824?s=46&t=pzk4C47q8POtqGdIOeimIw
The official account says "Used Bookstore" so it could be a new character named Used Bookstore, or this one who is also called "Crab-san"...
I wonder how things will turn out from here... I'm still
not letting my guard down!!
Well, finally, here are my thoughts on the new volume.
I don't think I should post manga, so if you have the new volume, let's flip through the pages together and talk ????
If you don't have the new volume, please use your imagination as if it were image training ????
Well, I'm deep in the swamp, but I've only been into Chiikawa for about a year.
So all the stories in "Chiikawa Vol. 1-4" were stories I was reading for the first time.
So I thought that by the 5th volume, I would be getting into it and reading the manga that was posted on Twitter, but sure enough, there was a story I had read!
"Slot"
A friend recommended it to me around this story, so I started reading it, but this "Slot" was so scary and I felt sorry for her...
"It's such a cute illustration, but what a scary story..."
I was shaking and... I fell into the Chiikawa swamp.
And then, like a succession of stories,
"Black Shooting Star"
I felt so sorry for Chiikawa and it was so painful... I couldn't watch it.
I was reading the manga that was posted on Twitter and wondering why this manga artist would do such terrible things.
These two stories are traumatic.
This new volume 5 is a series of dark stories that are called "unsettling chapters" in Nagano's manga.
Between "Slot" and "Black Shooting Star", "Black Shooting Star" is by far the most unsettling chapter.
Even if you're not into Chiikawa, these two chapters are sure to make you go "Ehh... (shudder)" when you read them.
Volume 5 is scary...
Only those who have read them will understand, but I think what these two disturbing chapters have in common is that
Nagano-sensei is trying to make us feel just how peaceful and happy their normal, ordinary everyday lives are.
Perhaps this is Chiikawa's eternal theme.
In addition to the disturbing chapters, volume 5 also contains heartwarming scenes from Chiikawa and her friends' daily lives, titled "Something kind of everyday," "Very everyday," and "Extremely everyday." This is a disturbing episode that makes me wonder if I'll ever be able to go back to that!
Happy days and disturbing days...
This ups and downs, the carrot and the stick,
is what makes Chiikawa so charming!

My family told me,
"You're talking about it (on your blog) - the monsters have been let loose in the wild... the sad monsters have finally found a place to speak,"
so I think I'll stop being a monster here...
Thank you for reading to the end
